Bullies or Gigs: She's always there for me

My nine days in the Midwest during J4 was a really good time.  I relaxed more.  I went with the flow more.  I ate more.  And gained more…weight, friends, love, and light.

Spending 77.7% of my trip with family, I discovered something that I knew within my heart, but had never said it out loud.

I have four sisters and we are all very close.  If you could see me right now, my fingers are crossed and I’m saying “Like this!”.

I love them and they love me.  And yes, on some days, we only like each other.

But just recently, it dawned on me that there’s one sister who I am compatible with 99.999999999999% of the time.

We click.  She understands me.  I understand her.  We hardly argue.  We know each other’s weaknesses and strengths.  We build upon them together.

So the other day, I told her:

“You are my BEST friend.”

It felt like doves were flying, the sun was shining, and the gates of heaven were opening.

My best friend/sister’s name is Pa Kou.  And she’s had my back since I was born.  We’re two years apart, although no one ever predicts that I’m younger.  (Boo.)

She is one of the most thoughtful people I know.
She gives.  She’s so giving, she leaves the last ounce of OJ in the fridge out of kindness.
She reminded me of the real me every day when I got bullied in high school.
She always has a funny comment to leave on our Facebook posts.
She went for her dreams, without any guarantees.
She makes men & women feel and look beautiful for a living.
Her blending skills are killer.
She is my favorite make-up artist.
And I get to call her my sister.

Today's not her birthday.
She didn’t win an awesome award (although she has several of those!).
nd President Obama didn't call her...yet.

But today, I am celebrating Pa Kou, because she has given so much of her time and energy to make me feel beautiful -- not only in life, but also in my music career.  She did so this past J4 -- play the video below!

She’s already given me so much as her sister; and for her to give to me as I work toward my dreams, I am speechless.  The least I can do is to let the world know just how incredible she is.

Thank you so much, Pa Kou.

Is your best friend a sibling too?  Or do you know someone just as incredible as Pa Kou?  Please leave a comment below; I’d love to hear from you!
